Big Heroes

family heroes jesus Nov 09, 2018

By: Yury Pineda

Without a doubt, Jesus is the most amazing man that has ever walked the earth. There is so much we can learn from everything He did. How could we not follow Him if everything He did was part of a perfect plan, designed by God himself, with the sole purpose of rescuing His creation.

“And the King will answer and say to them, ‘Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me’” (Matthew 25:40).

For Jesus, the little ones were very important; the kids who run in our meetings, who sometimes make a lot of noise and do not let us pay attention or who, perhaps, are seeking it. These, who He calls "my smallest brothers", definitely caught the Master's attention to such an extent that the Bible mentions how they ran to be with Him and how Jesus asked that they not be held back. It seems that the enemy’s strategy is to place barriers to hide the image of Christ from the children and...

5 tips for waking up early to do your devotional

devotional family Nov 05, 2018

By: Rich Harding

So we’ve all heard someone say, “I’m just not a morning person.” Maybe it’s you saying it! But the idea that waking up early as a virtue seems to be ingrained in our thinking. Often the most successful people in the world are considered ‘morning people’ and as Christians, it is one of the most essential steps to growing in our relationship with God. We know that we must have that quality time reading our Bibles and praying but we often never make it happen. You know the morning is the best time, and as you set your alarm every night you say to yourself, “Tomorrow I WILL force myself out of bed.” But after an hour of hitting snooze, you have to rush to get ready for work, or the kids come running into the room and jump on you (and for those with kids you know it’s game over when this happens).

I was much like this, really struggling to get out of bed, and have that quality time with God. But it was...

Pedagogy: What is it and why is it important?

family pedagogy Oct 01, 2018

By: Richard Harding

Why on the earth am I writing a blog about pedagogy for parents and church kid’s zone coordinators and teachers? It all sounds a bit extreme for the limited time we have kids each weekend or for the upbringing of our kids day to day in the house, where often no ‘formal’ education occurs. Well there is a point, read on and find out.

First we have to look at what pedagogy is. Don’t worry I had no idea either when I first came across the word. Made me feel a bit stupid but I later realised it’s really quite simple.

Here’s a given meaning by a university professor in Milan, Italy called Mantovani and then my simple explanation.

“Pedagogy can be seen as the general framework within which we think about education, growing out of both its particular cultural context and of cross-fertilization with outside forces, paradigms, and practices (Mantovani, 2007).”

In other words, pedagogy is essential...

Sowing in the generations to come

family Sep 25, 2018

By: María Bonillachil

Jesus was empathic about reassuring the importance of children coming to Him. His words were like a declaration of spiritual principles: “Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of heaven” (Matthew 19:14). For Him, being close to the children was of utmost importance. So much so that He expressed that theirs is the kingdom of heaven.

This is why it becomes so important that in the church, a strong leadership is raised up to take the Word of God to the little ones, so it can grow in them and bear fruit as they grow up. We need leaders who will prepare themselves and approach children of all ages to get to know them and speak their language when it’s time to share the message.

These leaders need to have a few special characteristics:

  1. Have the heart of a pastor

On occasion, working with kids requires patience, hard work and going the extra mile to meet...

I remember the first time I had a puppet in my hand, it was for a homework assignment in elementary school. My grandad helped me do it. This brings back fond memories of my childhood, because I was able to enjoy making it with him and playing with it together afterwards.

For kids, puppets are the characters that awaken their imagination. It’s a lot of fun that takes place on a stage they can be a part of. When we use them, we enter a wonderful world. We discover that we have another tone of voice, and in creating voices that we did not know we had, we discover that hiding is very fun and falling makes us laugh.

Let's make a quick and simple puppet!

There’s always a pair that is uneven. You lose one and you never know where to find it ...that’s right, we're talking about socks!

For our puppet we will use a sock that may have been left alone or abandoned. Here we will give it a special use. ;)

What you’ll...

Esther: New Song from Little Big Heroes and Generation 12 Kids

littlebigheroes new Sep 19, 2018

By: Johana Castro

We have been working on a new song that features Esther, the most beloved queen of the Little Big Heroes Universe. As we sing, we will learn about the reward that comes through grace when we are obedient.

Esther will be sporting a different look, because we thought it would be fun to combine her attire with the rhythm of the song:

On this occasion, we want to emphasize that she was a great queen used by God to save her people. Through the obedience and grace that characterized her, she obtained redemption for herself and for all the people that counted on her. She acted in a brave and bold way. Her faith was rewarded because she knew how to go to the secret place and move the hand of God on behalf of her people. She knew there was power in spiritual weapons such as fasting, and this made a change in history possible.

Technically, our challenge with this song is to stay within our timeframe. Our goal is to have a finished song...

Preparing Potential Leaders

Matthew 19:13-14

“Then little children were brought to Him that He might put His hands on them and pray, but the disciples rebuked them. But Jesus said, “Let the little children come to Me, and do not forbid them; for of such is the kingdom of heaven.”

The church’s strength to conquer is in the youth and the little ones as Pastor Cesar Castellanos has explained in many of his messages. They are the ones who fill the church with life, creativity and strength to conquer. Jesus was very aware of this. When the children were brought before Him, even His disciples rejected them. But Jesus, in an act of love, taught them a very valuable lesson in that moment: for of such is the kingdom of heaven.”

The kingdom of heaven appears to have that specific characteristic. We are to be as happy, sensitive and pure as kids. But at the same time they are the ones we need to take care of the most. They are who we need to form in...
