Let’s aim in the right direction

Years ago, I witnessed the pain of a Christian family whose 15 year old daughter became pregnant. They felt they had failed as parents and were uncertain of the future. Sadly, some of the decisions they had previously made regarding their daughter contributed to this situation.

They thought the church organized too many activities for her and they did not have the time to take her. They noticed their daughter had a gift for modeling and enrolled her in an academy. There, her circle of friends and influence completely changed. They shot their arrow in the wrong direction.

Of course God restores, lifts up and can make the most adverse situation work out for good in our children. However, one decision can define their destiny.

The Bible teaches us that our children are like arrows in the hands of a warrior. If those arrows are shot in the right direction, wow! They will be powerful, strong and nothing will be able to destroy them.

But before launching them, you need to make sure you aim at your children’s hearts. Sow in them the fear of the Lord and love for God. Remember that if your child is brought up in the Word, they will never stray from the Lord. God will be the compass that will determine their destiny. He will help them make the right decisions and face the challenges throughout their life.

We need to ask God to teach us how to raise our children and bring out the best in them. Every child is different and has a divine purpose they must fulfill.

In order to send them in the right direction, we need to ask the Lord to show us where He wants to take them, and to reveal to us their gifts and talents.

Get them involved in the church’s programs and activities! There are Encounters and Camps organized just for them, where you will discover their abilities and help develop them in a way that will edify their life.

My son has a gift for music, and I wanted to find the very best drum teacher for him. I found a place that was very good musically, but had principles and a life philosophy different from the one we were teaching him at home.

I made the decision to withdraw him and choose another place. His heart is much more important than some classes, so it deserves to be protected.

Put your kids in an atmosphere where they are motivated and challenged to be better people: respectful, caring and above all, firm in their faith. Remember: your child will go where you aim the arrow.

Parents, be spiritual and edify your children on the Rock. Society and social media, the world in general, wants to absorb them.

Be wise and aim in the right direction. Raise your children to have influence in the world through the message of God that was sown and bore fruit in their hearts.
