On the way to the promised land

As the animation team, we seek to be extreme dreamers. We always have faith in the promises of God, even without being able to see them. And that’s how things work in animation. Even though we may be working hard on a scene, there is a time period where we see nothing. There are only extreme and strange movements and no color; everything is gray! But from one moment to the next, everything is finished and it is even better than we had thought.

The dream of creating fun and educational videos for children grew in the heart of our director, Diego Gomez, and three other people, who laid the foundations for the department. For many, it might seem the furthest from a perfect start; we were using borrowed computers, stationed up in the attic of the building, with a lot of questions and no clear action plan. What we did have was faith in the dream God had given us.

On the path we’ve walked as an animation studio, God took us through the desert; to the unknown, to...

Kids like arrows

family kids parents Feb 22, 2019

By: Leonardo Chaves

“Like arrows in the hand of a warrior, so are the children of one’s youth.”

Psalm 127:4

I read this verse many times when I was younger, but could barely understand it. I thought that children were just something good, and since I was one of them I felt very pleased. I thought, "Cool! I'm a blessing to my parents!"

Now that I am the father of three young children, I have begun to understand what the Lord wants to teach us through this passage.

Why does God compare children to arrows? Well, I can tell you, it seems that sometimes my children are unable to stay still. They run around the house without stopping, and sometimes I have to make an effort to avoid running into them and keep someone from getting hurt. In that way, they are a lot like arrows!

But, besides that, I believe God wanted to teach me much more through this comparison. That is what I want to share with you today.

I understood that children are like arrows because...

Try this… 4 steps to writing your devotional down

devotional family Jan 23, 2019

By: Rich Harding

So many people do their devotional and read their Bible, but they don’t write anything down. Before they even leave their house, they have forgotten the reference, the message and what they are going to do about it. The act of simply writing down what we are reading changes everything.

My experience has been when I commit to write down what God is saying to me and what I should do about it, my life starts to change. I almost guarantee that if you do this for a month, your life will change more than from any encounter or conference you could experience.

So why don’t we do it? First of all because it takes a long time; it can double or even triple you devotional time, thinking what you’re going to write, then putting pen to paper. Most people don’t have the time to spend the whole day writing. Then there’s the whole, “Where’s my notebook” or “Who took my pen!” when you’re right at the...

Vacation, a time to learn

family vacations Jan 14, 2019

By: Luisa del Río

Summer vacation is quickly approaching and parents are entering into panic-mode because they don’t know what to do with their young ones. The kids think it’s time to sleep all day, not shower, eat junk food and spend their entire days playing video games.

We need to take advantage of this time and create the opportunity for them to discover, experience and grow in their responsibilities. The goal is for our kids to grow in wisdom and knowledge, in stature and in favor with God and men.

Vacations are an opportunity to do things we would not regularly do. Visit museums, botanical gardens, ecological sights and fun places that offer knowledge and new experiences.

I have the goal to teach my children how to cook this summer. They need to learn to prepare their own food, as it is very useful for them in life and a good thing when they are alone.

During their vacation,...

family memorize word of god Jan 11, 2019

By: Felipe Bernal

One of the most effective strategies to memorize the Word, and keep it fresh in your mind and heart, is by writing it in visible places. Not in vain, the Lord told Habakkuk, "Write the vision and make it plain on tablets, that he may run who reads it" (Habakkuk 2:2).

You can do this simple, but very effective activity with your kids. It’s a fun way to decorate their Bibles and, at the same time, help them remember what God has spoken to them.

For this activity you will need:

¼ sheet of construction paper

¼ sheet of contact paper

Markers or colored pencils

To start, choose a Bible verse that has impacted your child's heart. Draw a rectangle 18cm long by 5cm wide on the construction paper, and carefully cut it out. The straighter the lines, the nicer it will look.

Once you have the rectangle, write the selected Bible verse on it and let the child's creativity soar to decorate it. They can use the...

Kingdom Families (Part 4)

family Dec 21, 2018

By: Manuela Castellanos

Over the past couple of weeks, we have been able to learn together from Zacharias’ family and how they became an exemplary family. Along with his wife Elizabeth, he was able to raise a prophet who Jesus spoke of saying, “For I say to you, among those born of women there is not a greater prophet than John the Baptist…” For Zacharias and his wife, John’s arrival to their home signified that God was with them.

Today we will be talking about what children represent in marriage. I think that it’s not necessary to highlight what many today, even within the Christian community, say about children. These are some of the things I’ve heard: "A child is a big financial burden", "a child demands a lot of time and won’t leave me time for ministry or to do my things", "Raising godly children is very difficult", "the world already has so many people, why have more?" It’s incredible that within the...

Kingdom Families (Part 3)

family Dec 18, 2018

By: Manuela Castellanos

We cannot talk about family without highlighting that the foundation for raising children and a generation for God lies in the relationship of the couple, in the marriage. Marriage is the heart, or foundation of the family. If the couple’s relationship is solid and healthy, this will be a great benefit and example the children will learn and receive from their parents. The best a father or mother could do for their children is to nourish their relationship with their spouse on a daily basis, because through their example they are teaching them the greatest lessons.

That’s why I love that Zacharias and Elizabeth were completely united: united in their faith, in their purpose, and also in their determination and desire to raise a family for God. I always desired to get married and have a home because my whole life I witnessed a marriage based on faith in God and genuine friendship. I can honestly say that I don’t have...

Kingdom Families (Part 2)

Uncategorized Dec 11, 2018

This week, we will be focusing more on the role of the woman in the home. There’s a verse in Proverbs that I love, I always feel so challenged to grow when I read it. The wise woman builds her house” (Proverbs 14:1). The woman determines the  nature of each of her children. This is something I’ve always learned from my mom.

Today, we will be learning from Elizabeth, Zacharias’ wife.

The Bible says that she and her husband were both righteous before the Lord, and then it sets the bar really high for us. It says they did so walking blamelessly in all the commandments and requirements of the Lord” (Luke 1:6).

In the Bible, righteousness is related to the life of faith: "But the righteous shall live by faith" (Romans 1:17). Faith is what is in our heart, what moves us to act and take steps in God, but it’s also reflected in the way we speak. Our most important...

Kingdom Families (Part 1)

family Dec 03, 2018

By: Manuela Castellanos

Christmastime is a great opportunity to express love and gratitude to those who are closest to our hearts. That’s why, this month I want to focus on kingdom families. Someone once said that family can be a little piece of heaven on earth –or the complete opposite-- , and we have the great opportunity for our family to reflect a bit of what is in God’s heart to those who do not yet know Him.

When God called Abraham, He didn’t just call him, God called him along with his entire family (Sarah and their future descendants!) The Lord went above and beyond; He not only told Abraham he would be a blessing, but that in him all of the FAMILIES of the earth would be blessed (Genesis 12:2-3). God doesn’t just look at individuals. He wants to call and bless entire families.

Families were born in the heart of God

If we want a solid foundation to raise a family for God, we always need to look to the mirror of the Word. God was the One...
